The Bank of East Asia (“BEA”) hosted a cocktail reception in Singapore on 27th March, 2019 at Fullerton Bay Hotel to celebrate its centenary, following a series of festivities in Hong Kong.
Officiated by the Guest-of-Honour, Mr. Heng Swee Keat, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Singapore (currently Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance), the cocktail reception was also attended by Mr. Hong Xiaoyong, China’s Ambassador to Singapore, as well as over 430 guests, including customers of the Bank and representatives from the business and finance community.
Welcoming the guests at the reception were Dr. David K. P. Li, Chairman & Chief Executive of BEA together with Mr. Adrian Li and Mr. Brian Li, who both serve as Executive Director & Deputy Chief Executive at the Bank.
In his welcome remarks, Dr. Li said, “Singapore is the centre of our Southeast Asia operation. We opened our branch here in 1952, and it has been a key link in our global network ever since. As we begin our next 100 years, we look forward to continuing and strengthening the partnership and co-operation that we enjoy with our stakeholders in Singapore.”
The reception featured an exhibition of items from BEA’s archives, highlighting major milestones in the Bank’s history. These historical items were specially brought over from Hong Kong for the occasion.
